This is an idea I just heard about that I have to share with you! The idea is to start at the beginning of the alphabet and take turns planning a date around that letter. There are obviously 26 letters in the alphabet, so this is a good half a year (or more) of creative date nights. Who’s up for the challenge? I plan on posting the ideas we come up with as we go! Here are the rules according to my source:
- it has to be something that we wouldn’t usually do
- it has to be something that we would both enjoy
- it cannot be too expensive
- no swapping letters
- the letter owner has to organize all of the arrangements
- activities are to remain a secret until the day of the date
Of course, the above rules are only a guideline. Feel free to change them to what works for you! I’m really excited about this new challenge. Tonight is our first night – and I have the letter “A”. I’ll post later in the week and let you know what we did.

After 20 years I have just begun dating my husband. We are having a blast. Our first Alphabet date is Saturday. We played “Let’s Make a Date” and he chose correctly so gets what was in all 3 boxes. An Autumn Amble in a local state park, Athletics featuring Wii Sports Resort, and Amorous ABCs (aka Scrabble) I also plan to feed him some aphrodisiac appetizers along with Angel Air pasta for dinner. Am also thinking of a plAy list that starts with the Jackson’s “ABC” Just for fun we are keeping score and the winner of the night gets a prize that will make us both happy.
Thanks for these ideas. Even if people don’t follow the alphabet the entire list is great creative fun and it spawns additional ideas.

This is such a great idea. My hubby & I 1st heard of this idea the year before we got married, and we got it started, but only made it to C, before we fell off. We’ve been married almost 7 years now with 2 kiddos, and we’ve thought of it, but never revisited the idea. You guys are inspiring me to try it again!
