It is 6a. Pacific Time, and I’ve been awake for awhile. At 8a. I will attend my first WordPress WordCamp at San Diego State University. We love WordPress. It has been nearly two years since we switched our blog over from Blogger. I have learned a lot in these two years – what to do and what isn’t worth the time. I have signed up for more widgets that don’t work, but many more that do. I am constantly amazed at the new features available, but so much I still don’t understand. I have talked to a few other friends who use WordPress, but no one really, really knows it and how to make it work even better. Thus, my excitement when I saw this camp was taking place the very same time we would be in San Diego for my Father-in-Law’s birthday. Coincidence? I think not. Answer to prayer? Absolutely.
So, this morning I’m feeling like a girl on her first day of school. I’m not sure who will be there. I’m not even sure which track I should take – they are offering two. One thing is certain, I will learn. Something my Mom has instilled in me my entire life. She was the one who got us all started on computers in the first place back in the early 80’s.
“Computers are going to be the way of the future, so you’d better start learning it now.” She would say.
And she was right. I remember our first Tandy Computer from Radio Shack. Actually, it was HER computer – we couldn’t afford one. She took night classes at the local high school, and ended up learning doss programming quite well. She has inspired me to push myself and learn all I can in so many areas. So, as I walk into my first session this morning I will remember how far I’ve come since the early 80’s. Imagine – with blogs we literally have the world at our fingertips.
When the tickets went on sale I somehow missed it, even though I had been watching and waiting. Unfortunately, they sold out rather quickly. By the time I discovered it the only tickets left were to become an individual sponsor, which provided only one ticket. This is why Tom isn’t going with me. 😦 I sound so official being a sponsor and all, but really I’m going with my eyes wide opened in order to take in all I can.
Would you like to come with me? I plan to Tweet the entire experience throughout the day. Simply go to our Twitter account and sign up to follow my Tweets. I promise to share with you all I’m seeing through my Twitter Eyes.
This is post #16 in The Ultimate Blog Challenge to post everyday in July.
I’m trying not to be jealous, but then again I’m going to plan an afternoon with you all to myself after you get home!

I didn’t know about them either, but after attending the one yesterday, I found out they happen all of the place. I’m going to check out if there’s one in our area. Matt, the c0-founder of WordPress said Orlando had one a couple of years ago. That was when I first started with WordPress and had no idea what I was doing. LOL.

I didn’t know either! Is there a website or place on WordPress that advertises them?
