Last night we hopped in our car and headed to New Smyrna Beach to pay a quick visit to see Irene. We were surprised to see how quick she blew in. Friends who make a habit of barging in unannounced are considered rude, but not Irene. She has made sure everyone knows she’s packed and on her way. Just turn on the TV and you’ll see everyone is talking about her. They just aren’t sure when she’ll arrive, where she’ll end up or what she’ll look like when she gets there. From what we witnessed tonight, she isn’t too happy. A thick blanket of clouds swirled about her as she forged forward across the open sea.
Seriously, Irene is the first hurricane of the season, and thankfully this is as close as she’ll get to us. But we never tire of watching such storms. The Bible says the Heavens declare the glory of God. Storms like these declare His power and His strength. If you ever doubt God, look to the Heavens – you’ll discover things about Him you may have forgotten and need to remember in your life, in your marriage.
When was the last time you watched a storm roll in?
Wow!! Awesome pictures. Stay safe.

Thanks, Caryn! The storm has passed us by. Now we’re praying for those up the East Coast. She is a nasty hurricane.

Love storm watching. We’re hitting tornado season up here in Wisconsin so there are sure to be some good opportunities for storm photos, which always makes me wish I was better trained in photography. Nothing is quite as obvious of a reminder of God’s power as some of the vicious storms that blow in and then the peace that is left afterward.

I’d take a hurricane over a tornado anytime. I guess it’s what you’re used to, right? I wish I were a better photographer too – I love it! My family calls me the Nanarazzi! 🙂 Have a great weekend, Lisa!

Sharon,
Honestly, I’m still not there 100% about showing off pictures like these. But this one is my attempt to head in that direction. Any pointers? lol

Hey Tor,
We are NOT storm chasers by any means. We only went there because we knew the storm was heading North, not East. I do enjoy watching afternoon thunderstorms roll in from our back porch though. In fact, this storm looks a lot like the ones we see quite a bit around here. 🙂 Thanks!
