For me, I was married 4x before; yes, 4 times!! I was not saved during the first marriage, and was seeking during the next 2. Chose abuse and dysfunction, and put myself and my kids through so much pain. Three years after the most abusive marriage and horrible divorce, I sat at my PC, praying to the Lord about my lonliness and wishing to find the one who He wanted me to bless and He said, “Go fishing.” LOL, seriously, I had doubts, but found my husband on a small dating site, and we are going to celebrate our 3rd year, October 3. We both know this is IT. We are raising our 5 kids with God first, and although it’s a daily struggle, we have committed ourselves to this marriage and family for our lives. I thank The Romantic Vineyard for helping me keep on task, focused on the most important things, and the reason God brought my husband and I together; to bless one another and to bless these children. Thank you for doing what you do!!

I agree with the previous post; there is a lot to like about the Romantic Vineyard. The number one thing for me is that it makes me critically think about the state of my marriage and how I can improve myself to improve my marriage. I don’t forward a lot of “advice” emails however, I find myself forwarding the ones from this blog. Thank you for your work!

Russell, We are honored you find our advice helpful enough to pass along. Since it is biblical we know the lasting worth of our advice is because of HIM, not us. We will never outgrow the need for improvement in our own lives, much less our marriage.

I simply love the encouragement to “work” at the romance. My husband and I have been married for 12 years. 2 kids, 2 dogs, and a whole lot of stress later, we sometimes slip into the misconception that we should know all there is to know about making each other happy! Ha! So thanks for the signposts that say, in various words, “room for improvement”, and for making that message a source of encouragement!

Naomi, We love metaphors and this one is perfect. Our marriages will always have room for improvement. This can either be a source of great irritation or a part of the great adventure. I’m glad we get to “work” together with couples like you.

I just love the fact that it encourages marriage. So many things in our culture today simply do not do that. My husband and I have been married for over 19 years, and we want to continue to live and grow in love. It takes a lot of work, but it’s so worth it.
    Thanks for the encouragement.
    God Bless,

I truly appreciate the daily encouragement you give to all of us to love our partners with tender unselfishness… not something easily achieved, but definitely something we can try afresh each day through grace. My husband and I have been blessed with over 30 years of marriage, and are still discovering new things about love and commitment. Thank you for the encouragement!

My wonderful husband and I are a young couple that’s been married for 5 years. Not long ago we were going back and forth in a casual bantar. I only half jokingly said to him, “We don’t like each other very much, do we?” What he said next really made me stop and think. He replied:
“Nah, But we don’t have to like each other all the time, because we truely LOVE each other. That’s what makes us different from other couples. A lot of people get married because they really like each other, and they think that’s what love is.. but what happens when they inevitably stop liking each other?”

So, I like Romantic Vinyard’s tips and ideas that help me and remined me to always love my husband, even when I don’t always really like him. 😉

I don’t think I can just put one thing…I don’t have one favorite thing I have several. 🙂 I love all the different ideas for date nights. My husband and I tend to get in a rut with date nights and going on TRV helps come up with something different. I also love going on facebook and finding marriage reminders. That helps a lot! I need little reminders daily to be selfless, loving, and kind. I have encouraged my hubby to visit TRV to get ideas as well! Thanks for all the help 🙂

A friend forwarded The Romantic Vineyard to me about two weeks ago. I am so glad she did because it is hard to find good Christian mentoring especially when it comes to marriage. What a wonderful gift Debi and Tom provide for others to nurture and protect such a sacred and awesome covenant that God intended never to be broken. Thanks for sacrificing your time by providing me with excellent ways to prune my attitudes and help to love my husband in new and creative ways. It helps to have the wisdom of those that have been there already. After 19 years of marriage it is so easy to leave things as they are but The Romantic Vineyard has helped me to see that if left unattended a Vineyard dies. I pray I will put the things I am learning into practice. I love the pictures and scripture applied with the wisdom gained through real life experience. Keep up the good work! May God bless The Romantic Vineyard with fragrant testimonies of revived and vibrant marriages.

I like the way you guys share honestly from your experiences in your marriage and the lessons you have learned along the way. A wonderful encouragement to a relatively young married couple (6 1/2 years), especially reminding us to focus on each other, even with the extra time and attention that kids require during the day.

It spurs on creativity and helps me to remember to invest in my marriage in a Godly way!! Keep up the good work!!
