June is the traditional month for weddings, so it’s a good time for us to remember the vows we made to our spouse on our own wedding day.
I must admit that I haven’t re-read our vows in years! Tom and I used the traditional wedding vows found in the Common Book of Prayer. Thankfully, our wedding ceremony was taped on cassette (yes, we were married long before video cameras were invented. In fact cassette tapes were fairly new!) so we can not only read our vows, but hear them as we said them 30 years ago.
What about you? How long has it been since you have read your marriage vows? It seems that lifetime promises like these should be displayed in a prominent place in our homes. At the very least we should refer to them often. It’s a law for businesses to display their operating license for all to see, shouldn’t we consider showing more honor to these sacred ties that bind?
