Project 52: Favorite Things

This week we’re away to celebrate our anniversary.  For our Project 52 Date we decided to have a day of all our favorite things.

For Tom that was easy – being outdoors in the cold and snow, going for a long walk (5 miles up and down the mountain) and enjoying God’s creation.

For me it was taking pictures as we walked, writing love notes in the snow and building my first ever snowman – or should I say snowgirl.

Mrs.Snow

Tom grew up in Rochester, NY, so snow isn’t an event to him, but to me, a Florida girl from birth, I was like a kid in a candy store.  It was the picture perfect date!  I thanked Tom for all the things I get to experience that I never would be able to if it weren’t for him.  He knows so much about so much, and he loves sharing it with me.  I would never venture out traveling in the snow if he weren’t with me.  I wouldn’t know how to begin building a snowman if he didn’t teach me how.  I loved encouraging him as we walked, and I shared with him all the things I appreciate and love about him.

This date is easy to follow – simply make a list of all the things your spouse loves and make plans to do them all on the same date.  It really is a “Wow” factor – and one you’ll both remember for a long time.

It’s not too late to join Project 52 Date Nights.  Simply click on the button below and print out the pledge (mainly for your own benefit).  All we ask is that you share your date night ideas with us by commenting to our weekly post.

      Hey Nichole,
Writing love notes on walks together has become a tradition…we’ve written them in the sand in Barbados, Turks/Caicos Islands, Bermuda, of course Florida and now in the snow in NC. I wonder where we’ll end up writing next! 🙂 Thanks for commenting…

Thanks for stopping by our blog – sadly, our snowlady’s olive eyes are gone. Tom thinks the birds got them…but she’s still quite stately! LOL!

  5. I am not a fan of the cold, so this doesn’t sound like something we will be doing soon (I get a little too ornery when I can’t feel my fingers) but the pics are beautiful. I will admit that being out in the quiet and stillness of the snow can be very romantic.

I don’t like to have cold fingers either, but my husband bought me hot pockets – they were amazing! I wasn’t cold at all! Thanks for stopping by!

what?! your first snow lady? wow. it’s true though, FL doesn’t get much snow. I’m the same way about snow. Grew up in warm climates. Nathan loves it. I dread it. Thanks for sharing the date. How fun was that?! See you next week!

I’ve only seen it snow twice in Orlando – once was in 1977, and the other time was last week! Strange weather these days, but I’m loving it! Snow is so very romantic, that is if you don’t have to shovel it! 🙂

My friends and I started up our own blog to help each other in the “dating our spouses” department. We take turns posting creative dates that we have taken our husbands on….and I LOVE this idea! I was so inspired by this that I gave my husband a favorite things week. We had some drama in our marriage in June so this whole summer had been about reconnecting recommitting and generally loving one another better. As summer ended and returning to my job as a teacher drew closer I wanted some way of expressing to him how much our summer of love had meant to me. Anyway the Good Lord lead me to this post and I ran with it. My Tom enjoyed a week of surprises every night from books by a favorite author to candy to favorite foods. He received foot massage, full body massageJust having his itunes playing when he walked in the door brought a smile to his face, a shake to his head and a “You are gooood.” to his lips. I introduced it with a redux of the song “My favorite things” tailored to him.

God Bless You for all you do to keep our marriages whole and healthy! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
