I have to admit that when Tom told me he was taking me out for a nice dinner at The Ravenous Pig, I was less than enthused.
“I’m not in the mood for BBQ,” I told him.
He said, “Good, they don’t serve BBQ.”
I was intrigued, and I was soon-to-be pleasantly surprised.
First of all, The Ravenous Pig is located on North Orange Avenue right before Fairbanks Avenue merges with Orange in beautiful Winter Park. It is owned and operated by Florida natives, James and Julie Petrakis and is modeled after a British Pub. The byline of the restaurant reads, “An American Gastropub.”
What is a “gastropub,” you ask? Here is the answer from their website:
The gastropub is an idea fresh from across the pond. Start with a traditional pub experience, add a passionate culinary team and pair with an elevated dining experience—and you’ll get fare that is as delicious as it is unique.
What I really liked best about the restaurant is their commitment to local produce and seafood. They use local growers and seasonal offerings to create their ever changing menu. So, what I enjoyed may not be available when you visit, but whatever is available is sure to be excellent quality and quite delicious.
If you’re looking for something different, this definitely fits the bill. Guaranteed you’ll feel full like a pig when you leave. 🙂 I think that’s the whole idea, right?
Looks wonderful! (it’s fun to try new stuff)
