It’s Labor Day weekend, and I have vertigo! <sigh> I’m sure there’s something funny to be said about it, but all I’m thinking of is the 60’s song by Tommy Roe titled, I’m So Dizzy.
So, how did you do with the Lighten Up Challenge? Did you find the funny side of the street to be more enjoyable? We sure did.
One of my favorite memories of this challenge will be the night Tom and I went to 4Rivers BBQ.
It’s an outdoor restaurant that is so popular you have to plan to stand in line for a while before even placing your order. I had just purchased Dave Barry’s new book titled, I’ll Mature When I’m Dead. He used to write a newspaper column for the Miami Herald and was syndicated in our local paper. We love his sense of humor. Anyway, the chapter about the hit TV series, 24, is worth the price of the book alone.
While standing in line, I started reading it to Tom – aloud, but quietly, so as not to disturb those starving patrons around us. However, I failed to notice the couple in front of us. Finally she couldn’t stand it any longer and asked what we were reading. Her comment went something like this, “I’ve been watching you two and you haven’t stopped laughing since you’ve been here.” 🙂 I guess I wasn’t being so quiet after all. It was the highlight of our challenge, and something I wouldn’t have thought of doing if the challenge wasn’t presented.
So, do you have one special moment you would like to share with us? This post will be up throughout the holiday weekend, so comment when you can. Let’s keep the laughter going – who knows maybe we’ll shed a few pounds. After eating dinner at 4Rivers I could stand to lose a few! Now that’s something worth laughing for.
Have a safe and memorable weekend together. We’ll be back on Tuesday!
